OUR PROJECTS

Most families in the areas that RUCHI operates are small farmers who practice agriculture and horticulture on small, terraced fields. Environmental degradation, soil erosion, lack of irrigation facilities and potable water, depleting fuel-wood and fodder sources and poor health, sanitation and educational infrastructures have combined to create endemic poverty.

The following a small selection of some of the work RUCHI is involved with in the Himachal Pradesh region to fight against

Natural Resource Management

30 villages Dharampur Block, District Solan, Himachal Pradesh.  Sponsored by Oxfam/Water for Survival (New Zealand).  A five-year project initiated in April 2003, concluded March 2008.

Sponsor A Grandparent Programme (SAGP)

Run with support of Help Age International RUCHI helps 28 60+ year old from 50 villages Dharampur Block, Solan District, Himachal Pradesh.

Womens Self Help Groups (SHG's)

Self Help Groups(SHG) are village level women's groups, set up as a mechanism for delivering education, in particular health messages and uniting the community for the development of the village..

 

Ferro-Cement Tanks

As the first agency to promote ferro-cement technology in Himachal, RUCHI has constructed over 600 ferro-cement tanks in both its own project areas and also on a demonstration basis at other NGO and government sites
